Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

The sun had dipped below the horizon and left a purple and blue glow to the sky in Buxton, North Carolina at the original Cape Hatteras Lighthouse location. Used a Nikon F4 film body and Fuji transparency film scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 9000.

Beautiful Palm

Shot this Canary Island Palm Tree at Pt. Fermin in San Pedro, California. Liked how the wall detail with the tree lent a Middle Eastern look to the photograph. Used a Nikon D3 and 14-24mm lens and processed and colorized the photograph in Adobe Lightroom.

Pt. Fermin Lighthouse

Yesterday was a beautiful day so my wife and I did some old fashioned “Sunday Driving” over to Palos Verdes and San Pedro. Took these two shots of the old Pt. Fermin Lighthouse in San Pedro. It is a “Stick Style” Victorian lighthouse built in the late 1800’s. Was a working lighthouse for San Pedro and Long Beach until WWII when it was shut down for safety sake so the enemy could not see the coastline.
It has since been restored and turned into a tourist attraction. If you are in the Los Angeles area and want to see it, San Pedro is on the Palos Verdes Peninsula right next to Long Beach. It is practically across the street from the Korean Friendship Bell another site worthy of visiting.
Used a Nikon D3 and 14-24mm lens for both shots. Did the processing and sepia toning in Adobe Lightroom. To see a larger version just click on the photo.

Arizona Memorial

This photograph is at the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Was really drawn to the architecture of this building as it is like a sculpture and catches the light in interesting ways. Visiting the memorial to the crew of the sunken ship in Pearl Harbor is a must when visiting Oahu and is a very moving experience.
Used a Nikon F4 film camera with Fuji transparency film and scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 9000. The original transparency had a very cool blue color temperature so I warmed up the color in Adobe Lightroom.
