I have no idea what these things are called, if anyone has an idea please let me know. But I assume they are a spiked defensive barrier to keep enemy troops from getting closer. Was photographed in the historic area of Williamsburg, Virginia with a Nikon D2x and 12-24mm lens.

Ouch!

January 14, 2009

Was looking through some old pictures and found this from February of 1998 on a Kodak Photo CD. It is from a missions trip a group from the church we used to go to (Calvary Chapel Simi Valley) made to Ensenada, Mexico. We brought clothes, shoes, eye glasses, food, and some good old fashioned dental care. In the picture is Inga-Lill Guzik doing the dental care and my wife Debbie is keeping notes and looking on. They made the best of the conditions with makeshift lighting in a kitchen. It’s interesting the difference in attitude kids in Mexico have versus the kids in the U.S. about visiting the dentist. Most kids in the U.S. are afraid and try to get out of going while poor kids in Mexico will stand in line for free care because they know they can’t afford to go and will suffer if their teeth aren’t taken care of properly.
