Camille Boat

Was shooting on assignment in the Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi area and used this boat as a backdrop for a portrait for a credit union ad. This boat washed ashore during Hurricane Camille in 1969 which devastated the Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi area and is a tourist destination right across the street from the beach. During Hurricane Katrina in an ironic twist it was the only thing that didn’t get blown away by the storm as every other structure in the area was gone.

Used a Nikon D2x and a 17-55mm lens for the shot in available light.

While waiting for the subject to show up I shot this picture of the boat alone. You can see, even many months after Hurricane Katrina the area still had not recovered.
